Get Involved — Your Seat at the Table Is Here

At Common Ground Community Table, volunteers are not just helpers. They are the heart of everything we do.

We do not believe that a degree, a clean record, or a perfect history makes someone qualified to show up for others. We believe lived experience is a credential. We believe that the people who have navigated broken systems, rebuilt their lives, faced discrimination, and kept going anyway are exactly the people this work needs.

If that is you — you belong here.

You Are Welcome Here — Exactly As You Are

We explicitly and enthusiastically welcome volunteers who are:

  • LGBTQIA2+ — your identity is not just accepted here, it is celebrated

  • Disabled — we believe in accessibility and will work with you to find a role that fits your needs and honors your gifts

  • Living with mental health conditions — your experience is your expertise

  • In recovery or active in your recovery journey — we honor every stage

  • Formerly or currently experiencing housing instability — you know this work from the inside

  • Formerly involved with the justice system — your history does not define your value here

  • Of all faiths, backgrounds, and life experiences — this table has room for everyone

Common Ground Community Table is a trauma-informed, peer-led organization. That means we show up for our volunteers the same way we show up for the people we serve — with dignity, flexibility, and zero judgment.

Ways to Get Involved

Peer Support Volunteer Share your lived experience to support others navigating similar challenges. Training and supervision provided. No professional license required — just a genuine desire to walk alongside someone who is where you have been.

Community Outreach Volunteer Help us connect Common Ground Community Table to faith communities, nonprofits, neighborhood organizations, and the people who need us most. If you love people and know your community — this is your role.

Administrative Support Help with organizing, scheduling, communications, and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything running. Remote and flexible.

Social Media & Marketing Help us tell the Common Ground story online. If you have skills in social media, graphic design, photography, writing, or content creation — we would love your help.

Grant Research & Writing If you have experience with grant writing or research, your skills could directly fund the programs that change lives. This is one of our most needed volunteer roles right now.

Fundraising Support Help us build our donor community, support our GoFundMe campaign, and connect Common Ground Community Table to people who want to invest in this mission.

Tech & Website Support Help us keep our digital presence strong, accessible, and current. Web design, accessibility auditing, tech troubleshooting — all welcome.

Future Program Volunteers We are building toward shelters, tiny home communities, workforce programs, and more. If you want to be notified when hands-on program volunteer opportunities open up — sign up now and you will be the first to know.
